• COLOGNE
We will set off on our exciting Rhine cruise from here, heading for the southern Rhine. Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore this cathedral city, with its wealth of monuments and attractions. 

• RUDESHEIM
The town describes its biggest attraction, the world-famous Drosselgasse, as ‘144 metres of joie de vivre’. This centre of Rhine Romanticism once inspired poets and musicians – it was here that Brahms composed his Symphony No. 3. Rüdesheim is the best-known spot in the Rheingau and has plenty of cultural attractions, including stately homes and fortifications. And no visit to the towns and countryside of this area of the Rhine would be complete without a Rüdesheim coffee, which was invented here.

• GERMERSHEIM (SPEYER)
Germersheim is only about 20 km from the city of Speyer, which is over 2000 years old. Speyer is Germany’s oldest planned medieval town. Speyer’s most prominent monument is its cathedral. As one of the country’s most important High Romanesque cathedrals, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You are sure to have an enjoyable day in Speyer.

• BREISACH
The little town of Breisach perches on a steep cliff along the Rhine, to the south-west of the Kaiserstuhl hills. Its main landmark is the cathedral, Münster Sankt Stephan. Set high above the town on a hill (Latin name: Mons Brisiacus), the church overlooks the Rhine valley, housing an impressive collection of artworks. Geldermann, a well-known producer of sparkling wine, is also based here. A visit to Breisach is an absolute must during your Rhine cruise.

• STRASBOURG (KEHL)
Today your Rhine river cruise will call at Strasbourg – a centre of European policymaking. Enjoy Paris by night and get a whole new view of the city! The day in Paris belongs to you. Enjoy the breathtaking metropolis with its landmark - the famous Eiffel Tower.

TRAVEL & OVERNIGHT IN BRUSSELS
After pick ups we travel to Dover for our short sea crossing to Calais. On arrival in Calais we continue to our overnight hotel in Brussels.
Check in at the hotel on a 1 night Bed & Breakfast basis.

EMBARK A-ROSA VIVA
Morning departure from the hotel to continue the journey to Cologne and transfer to your welcoming A-ROSA ship, home for the next seven nights. 

The rest of the day is free to explore the city, where you will find a good selection of museums and the famous cathedral which dominates the skyline.

RUDESHEIM

After a morning sailing on the scenic Upper Middle Rhine we arrive at UNESCO World Heritage Rudesheim which has for centuries been renowned the world over for its outstanding wines.

Among its highlights is the world-famous Drosselgasse, an alleyway filled with quiant half timbered taverns described as '144 metres of joie de vivre'. This area is the centre of Rhine Romanticism and once inspired poets and musicians. In fact, it was here that Brahms composed his Symphony No.3.

GERMERSHEIM (SPEYER)
Today we sail through the historical heart of Europe with picture perfect sights, terraced vineyards, expansive forests and high peaks. 

Spend the day in the relaxed riverside town of Germersheim or opt to travel to nearby Speyer, once centre of the Holy Roman Empire.

BREISACH
Perched on a steep cliff above the Rhine, pastel hued Breisach is set amidst rolling vineyards. The area marks where the Black Forest spills into the Alsace. The well known sparkling wine Geldermann is based here so it's the perfect spot to visit a wine cellar and get to grips with this area's local tipples.

STRASBOURG (KEHL)
The capital of the Grand Est region, formerly known as Alsace, Strasbourg sits on the border of Germany, France and Switzerland. 

Take a leisurely stroll to the canals of petit France and magnificent Strasbourg Cathedral. For 277 years, this was the tallest building in the world with views stretching as far as the Black Forest, some 30km away.

MAINZ
At the very heart of Rhineland's wine growing region, Mainz is a lively mix of colourful bars, traditional shops and great eateries.

Visit the historic Gutenberg Museum named after Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press.

KOBLENZ
This morning we arrive in Koblenz at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle.

Wrapped in the scenic surrounds anf rich history of the UNESCO listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley, 2000 year old Koblenz is a treasure trove of interesting attractions including grand palaces, stately homes, narrow lanes and romantic corners.

One of the highlights here is being aboard as we sail around the Deutsches Eck headland where the Rhine and Moselle meet in the shadow of the imposing Kaiser Wilhelm statue.

COLOGNE & TRAVEL HOME
Disembark after breakfast and travel to Calais for the short sea crossing to Dover.

On arrival in Dover we continue the journey home.
